The purpose of life insurance is to provide financial security and peace of mind. It ensures that loved ones aren’t left with a financial burden after the policyholder passes away.

February is an important month to recognize those we love, and it can also serve as a helpful reminder to look into life insurance plans. Throughout the month of February, Life Happens, a nonprofit organization aimed to give unbiased information to help make smart insurance choices, hosts Insure Your Love Month.

Life insurance carriers are also emphasizing the importance of life insurance policies for anyone who loves someone else in their life. Take the time to discuss with your family or clients about life insurance – whether this be a family member, partner, friend, or customer – life insurance offers protection for loved ones if anything were to happen. Talking about life insurance with your clients is essential in order to ensure their loved one’s financial security no matter what life throws at them.

Figuring out how much life insurance you need is an important task. This calculator can help make the process a little bit easier. It takes into account your income, debts, and other factors to estimate how much coverage you’ll need.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Step 1

Calculate the amount of coverage needed.

The first step is to determine how much life insurance coverage you need. There are a number of factors to consider, such as your age, your health, your income, your debts, and your dependents.

Step 2

Compare life insurance policies.

Once you know how much coverage you need, you can start comparing life insurance policies. There are a variety of factors to consider, such as the type of policy, the length of the policy, the premium, and the death benefit. Check out our Guide to Life Insurance Companies and Policies to get you started.

Step 3

Choose a life insurance policy.

After you have compared life insurance policies, it is time to choose a policy that meets your needs. Be sure to read the fine print and understand the terms and conditions of the policy before making a decision. This is where a financial professional such as an insurance agent or financial advisor comes in to best fit the policy to your needs. If you don’t have a financial professional, contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Step 4

Apply for life insurance.

The next step is to apply for life insurance. You will need to provide some personal information, such as your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number. In the best-case scenario, you won’t need to give any more time or energy to the application. In some cases, you may need to get a medical exam including a blood test or urine test in order to get approved for coverage. It all depends on which insurance policy you apply for and how healthy you are.

Step 5

Start paying premiums.

Once you have been approved for coverage, you will need to start paying premiums. Premiums are typically paid monthly or annually. If you stop paying premiums, your policy will lapse and you will no longer have life insurance coverage.
